Take a look at my new radio!

The Sangean Super 909 Worldband Receiver.

$329.95 includes free shipping

This radio has been modified by Radiolabs to pickup distant stations.

To let you guys know I live in Seattle WA and while in my living room amongst all the electrical interference on a overcast evening I was able to pickup KNX - Los Angeles on the AM band which is 1,546 miles away as the crow flys. :9536:

Also I picked up KSL - Salt Lake City Utah - - 1129 miles away

Also I picked up KOA - Denver CO - - 1017 miles away

As far as short wave goes Australia and New Zealand I listen to alot as I can pick them up shortly after the sun goes down.

Simply Put... This is an A$$ KICKIN RADIO!!!!!

This summer when I go out on my deck on a clear summer evening I hope to maybe pickup Dallas or even Montreal on my AM Band. :9536:

If anybody has any questions about the Super 909 then feel free to ask me.

Thanks for sharing. I will be getting a radio for my "camping" back pack soon, and this is one to consider (I'll also have to think about that portable solar panel).

Can I ask you a stupid question? When you were tuning through the bands on that radio did you come across any Morse Code transmissions? I have been thinking lately that knowing Morse Code might come in handy when TSHTF. I'm wondering if it will help in specific regard to SW transmissions.

Thanks!

Having just gotten the radio I don't recall hearing any Morse Code yet.

It will pick up all the pirate SW stations though.
You will wear out your hand going thru all the SW bands, due to all the fine tuning that this radio offers.
A very good SW antenna will be required in order to pick up the more remote stations however.

Thanks for the advice last week SF... My Frog is on the way come the first (found 1 on CL)! :coolbeer:

I have an old RS 398DX (ATS 909 clone) that I will be sending into Radio Labs for the mods also.

I use it every night. ANY station you tune into will be in it's right time slot in their exceptionally accurate charts.

Also, good equipment reviews.

If you need a good SW antenna, this guy makes some of the best!
